Frequently asked questions
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, email Harris from our support team at harris@trykinesa.com and he will get back to you as soon as possible.
Who should join Kinesa?
Kinesa is designed for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), specifically Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. We are currently only accepting patients based in the United States.
Can Kinesa replace my current gastroenterologist?
Yes. Kinesa is a full-service virtual GI clinic. We built Kinesa because when we moved cities for work, we struggled to find gastroenterology clinics that were accepting new patients, had reasonable availability, responded quickly to flare ups, and generally cared about us as humans as opposed to just patients.
Does Kinesa prescribe medication?
Yes. Think of Kinesa as your typical Gastroenterologist, just virtual. We help find the right medications for your specific needs and make picking them up from your local pharmacy as seamless as possible.
What happens if I have a flare up?
Flare ups suck. We’ve been there, and there is nothing more frustrating than not hearing back from your Gastroenterologist while this is happening. That’s why Kinesa has 24/7 text and call support so we can write you a prescription when you need it most.
What if I need in-person care?
We partner with GI specialists all over the United States for when in-person care is needed. Whether you need a physical exam or a colonoscopy, we’ll make sure you get the proper in-person care.
What if I’m not sure if I have IBD? Can Kinesa help diagnose me?
Yes. Our Gastroenterologists and GI specialists can make an initial diagnosis and continue to provide you care thereafter. For an initial diagnosis, we typically will send you to one of our in-person partners to get a colonoscopy. Don’t worry, we’ll guide you through the process every step of the way.
How does payment work? Do you accept insurance?
Kinesa charges a $99 per year membership fee. This gives you access to our app, 24/7 phone and text support, access to our in-person GI partners, and the many other benefits of being a Kinesa member. In addition to the membership fee, each scheduled appointment you make with our Gastroenterology team is covered by your insurance and a copay may apply. We take most major insurance including Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Kaiser, United, and Medicare. The Kinesa team will confirm your insurance before we bill you for any appointments.
